AFLPNG REGIONS

SOUTHERN SHARKS REGION
The
Southern Region in PNG is based in Port Moresby. Hitting record numbers
of school kids this year, the Southern Development team led by Raga
Raga has started a successful junior football competition. The southern
region is the main base for AFLPNG.
NEW GUINEA ISLAND STINGRAYS REGION
NGI
region is based out of Kimbe. AFLPNG has also ventured to Kavieng in an
effort to expand the development of the game. Vitus Gavuri is the
Development officer based out of Kimbe. Herman Bubu is AFLPNG's Kavieng
based Development Officer..
HIGHLAND RAIDERS REGION
Mount
Hagen is the centre of the Highlands region for AFL Development in PNG.
Many young players have been scouted by Highlands Development
Co-Ordinator Moses Kar. School clinics have been run through Mt.Hagen,
Goroka and as far out as Highlands Lutheran International School in
Enga. AFLPNG development officer Ian Karme is based in Goroka to
develop the code. The Highlands are the current Junior National
Champions.
NORTHERN THUNDER REGION
The
Northern Region is based in Lae, at the end of the notorious Highlands
Highway. The National Championships are held at Igam Army Barracks
every year, where the best kids converge on the fields. Connie Papau is
the Northern Development Co-Ordinator.
